Welcome to the BPTBA website, the governing body for British Police Tenpin Bowling in the UK.
In 2023 we are pleased to announce that we will be organising a series of bowling events called the Public Services Tenpin Tour (PSTT). This series of tournaments will be open to all members of the emergency services, including hospital, prison, customs and revenue services both serving and retired. We are hoping to encourage competition between all of these organisations in the spirit of sport.
Police officers in the United Kingdom have a rich history of bowling competitively since the 1960’s, with organised inter-force competitions over the past 5 decades, known as the Order of Merit
Historically this series of events are hosted by various forces. These include West Yorkshire, Sussex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and 'The Met’. The Order of Merit has categories for male, female and teams, with points available at each event for the winners of each tournament.
The order of merit will be run in 2023 as part of the PSTT, with points available for eligible Police staff who compete at these events.

Meet the Committee
These are your 2023 BPTBA Committee, tasked with running the Association and events for this year.

Jon Greengrass
Jon has been the chair of the BPTBA since 2008. He is a retired Metropolitan Police officer who has been bowling since 1991. He now resides in Norfolk where he is also the Chair of Norfolk & Suffolk Tenpin Bowling Association.
Jon has a personal best game of 300 and a three-game series of 835. He is the current Norfolk County senior champion and has won seven gold medals at the World Police and Fire Games, including three at the most recent event held in Rotterdam in 2022.

Mark Scott
Mark started bowling at the tender age of 4 as his dad was the manager of Regent Bowl Great Yarmouth. He has bowled in various England youth teams winning a silver medal in the 1988 European championships in San Marino.
Mark joined Norfolk Constabulary in 1990 and started bowling for the Norfolk Police team. Norfolk was one of the first Police areas to bowl in, along with Sussex and City of London. This became what is now the BPTBA,. When the Association was formed, Mark took on the role of treasurer and has continued in that role since.
